unwise comment to make if you're a man, #283752

in preparation for the pole photos last weekend (still waiting to see them! eek!) i went and got some, uh, personalladythings taken care of. that involve wax. i think we're all on the same page here.

i had a lovely, very sweet, very accent-heavy asian lady taking care of my bidness who was also very chatty. after asking all about my boyfriend, what "special occasion" warranted the wax, and reminding me i'm lucky i'm not arab since "arab lady need whole body wax! it take hours! poor ladies!" she started in on tales of other clients.

like the woman whose husband insisted on not only coming with her, but being in the room with her for the entire appointment. and who then proceeded to admonish his wife that the pain was "all in her head."

i presume it was solely the fact that my waxer is a rather diminutive woman that prevented her from forceably giving this man a free trial on his own pubic hair to see how that statement held up.

  1. Is it STANDARD for Arab women to be completely hairless? This is NEWS TO ME! The things I don't know!

I get my eyebrows threaded, and every time I do it I think to myself that Tosc would be huddled under the chair in tears.

  2. I don't generally like to make pronouncements about what _I_ would do if MY husband acted a certain way, because generally I think of all the times other people have said how THEY'D handle MY husband and I've thought they were DELUSIONAL and also kind of DUMB.

BUT. In this case I am making an exception. IF I had married a man who would say the pain was all in my head, I would be LIGHTNING QUICK to have him on that table. I would insist. But this is why I don't generally make such pronouncements: I can't picture doing that as the woman who DIDN'T do it. It's such an obvious and problem-ending solution.

  3. And I bet that guy was one of those dudes who acts like he's dying every time he has a cold.

  4. ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch.

Due to cycling, I know a lot of men that shave their legs, but none that actually wax (and believe, it is one of the weirdest things to chat with them about shaving, still not used to it)... I think it would be good for them, ALL OF THEM, to try it at least once...

  5. I can't believe that guy. I mean, I CAN believe him but I also want to nut punch him.

  6. She's in the wrong business to be so lacking in discretion. Not that I'm noteworthy in any way but if she talks about other clients what's to stop her talking about me? It's just bad form and I'd find a different place.

  7. "...all in her head."

LOLOL! I'm guessing he didn't get to experience the benefits of the waxing anytime soon.

  8. Oh wow. That actually kind of makes me sad for the woman. I mean, what kind of controlling fuckhead insists on being in the room while his wife is waxed? And then belittles her? Eww.

  9. I agree with lacochran's evil twin. I'm more concerned about the fact that she's telling you about her other clients; that's their business. When you have your vagina out, you expect a little discretion.

  10. eh, it doesn't bother me that she chatted about other clients. it's not like she gave me names or descriptions or identifying information. would you get upset if your hairdresser talked about another client whose boyfriend came in and demanded to pick her hair color? i don't see it as more of a breach of trust or anything just because my ladybits were exposed at the time.

(i also don't have any issue w/the new backscatter xray machines either, so it's also obvious i have far more relaxed privacy standards than a lot of folks.)

  14. You need a woman to wax you? I take it you get off on this.
I dont think that average looking women or less... should waste time getting waxed. Nobody wants to see them naked anyway.

  17. Alice,
I love the fact that you get your miss bigglesworth waxed. Very classy!

I personally like to get the "beckham" which includes the back, crack, ass, and sac. The girls that seem to really appreciate this because I am soooooo hairy in those areas.

    Love the blog.
