bridesmaid dress party!

oh dear, i have the best pictures from my party this weekend, and it's THURSDAY and i'm just now getting around to posting them, and my mom was in town yesterday and we went to the hillwood museum and restaurant eve and BOTH of us forgot to bring cameras to BOTH PLACES and it's tmi thursday and i am unprepared and work is very busy and gaaaaaaah. so to cumulatively a) sum up, b) show you embarassing pictures, as i always like to do, and c) sorta-kinda count this as tmi thursday, please to be enjoying some pictures from the party i threw last weekend.

it was a bridesmaid dress party. some of you may recall i did this two years ago as well. the idea is that when you're a bridesmaid, you have to buy a very shiny satin dress that you have basically no other use for again, which then sits in your closet for all eternity. or until you give it to goodwill. unless you know me! in which case you're lucky enough to put that dress back on and parade drunkenly around downtown while wearing it.

as you can see, we took things up a notch with the addition of sparkly, plastic, child-sized tiaras this year. a little girl on the metro asked if we were in a beauty pageant. hee.

the shoulder looks good dressed up, don't you think?

just like last time, rumors remains an excellent place to go dancing while dressed in ludicrous outfits. fyi. and next year, the invite is extended to all my blogging ladies as well. i'd best see some bloggery faces in satin this time next year :-)

  3. Kinda makes me wish I didn't get rid of a bunch of my bridesmaids dresses.

Fortunately (or unfortunately for the time), I was in enough weddings that I should still have one or two lying around. I should steal this idea as well.

  5. I wore a black beaded dress to in my sister's wedding, and while I really liked the dress, there has been no other occasion to wearing it.

I LOVE this idea. LOVE it.

  7. That looks like so much fun! What a great idea! I am inviting myself to the next one. I have a hideous lavender dress (there ya go, Jess!) to wear!

  8. OK, I have threatened to throw this party for YEARS now. YEARS! And yet, I have never done it. I'm glad that YOU have, though. You are inspiring me to revisit this idea again.

  9. Hi Alice. I found you via http://livelovelaughnc.blogspot.com/. The bridesmaid dress party is a hilariously fabulous idea! I must also admit that I "cut off" most of the length of my bridesmaid dress from my brother's wedding and wore it to another wedding as a guest. It was, by far, the most beautiful bridesmaid dress (turned cocktail dress) I've ever seen!
Cute blog. I'll stop in every now and again :)

  11. You DO look like Cinderella. Well, the roughed up, scabby version.

I love this idea! Do you suppose it's too much to ask bloggers to schlep an ugly bridesmaid dress to BlogHer?

  17. Brilliant.

I have never been a bridesmaid, but I do have a rather fetching buttercup yellow prom dress number that would likely to well for this purpose...

  21. what a FANTASTIC idea! I had to wear some kind of pinky silky looks-funny-on-my-body-type bridesmaids dress this summer -- I see an encore in it's future with this idea! YEAH!
