The stuff I did that wasn't weddings

Surprisingly, we have managed to do a few other fun things on the weekends in between weddings. For example, several weeks ago Marie and I went apple picking!

...followed by a lovely afternoon at a winery.

It was the first gorgeous, not-disgustingly-hot-and-humid day we'd had all year, and it was unbelievable.

Chris and I also went to a local Oktoberfest celebration with friends - I've been in Northern Virginia for 10 years now and had never managed to make it.  Clearly a shame, because look how much fun we had:

(Another day of gorgeous weather!  After the summer we had we effing deserve it.)

Oh!  Also!  It was my birthday! Chris took me to Rogue 24, which I'd been wanting to try for ages. It was FASCINATING.

(These were 5 of the 24 courses.)

And today! Today I ran my Very First Ever In My Life 5k, which was shockingly not completely horrible as I'd expected it to be.  To my surprise I was actually able to run the whole thing (!!) - all the more surprising since during the weeks leading up to this, when I occasionally "went running" to "train" I never made it more than about 3/4 of a mile without stopping to walk, and never more than 2 miles total.  So! This was new.

Also, it was the Color Run, which you've likely heard of by now and it's just as neat as it looks.

It was also Chris's birthday this weekend (welcome to your 30s, babe!) AND our delightful friends Jenn & Derek's engagement party.  We have been.... busy.  Very good busy.

  4. When I started reading about Marie training for the color run, I totally wanted to do it in Chicago (sold out, no luck). Next year, though. That race looks like so much fun.

Also, what's up with the pretzel necklaces and why don't you have one?! =)

  7. Congrats on your 5K!! I think a color run sounds so fun. I think I could muster the discipline to train for a color run, or one of those races where you get chased by zombies. But that is it.

How was the food? I am an adventurous diner, but I have always been very nervous of foamy food. I- I just don't know that I could handle it.

  8. I don't think you've done enough. There should have been a wedding squeezed in there somewhere. ;)

  11. Okay, that farm totally looked like Loudoun County! 'Fess up, where was your winery and apple expedition? Fabulous photos, as usual -- and if I could run more than 8 steps, I would totally do a color run. (Why couldn't they have fun things like that back when I was running 5K and 12K races?)
