Hello! I am old now!

you guys! i am IN MY THIRTIES now. i'm not sure how i feel about this, aside from the fact that it feels pretty much no different at all, which is reassuring. i rang in my 30s my favorite way: at a bar with all of my friends. except even better, my sister flew in all the way from San Francisco to celebrate with me... and to make all of my friends take EXTREMELY HILARIOUS pictures all night. she dubbed herself my "photo director" and would have me pose with a friend for one nice shot, then would say something along the lines of "OK, and now: you just found out Alice in a meth addict! GO!!" and take a second shot of us looking insane. it was totally awesome, in other words.

that one of me & my sister about midway through, by the way, where she's grabbing her face? that was a portrait of me looking as young as possible and she looking as old as possible, directly after she forced the bartenders and waitstaff at La Tasca to vote on which one of us was 30. also one of those pictures is a group "Be a Gryphon!!" shot. because, naturally.

my sister's present to me needs an entire post of its own, which i'll get to shortly... but seriously:

she is a funny lady :)

  3. My brother flew in for my 30th birthday (right around the time they invented planes) and it was an awesome addition! Love all your photos, but particularly the one of you and your boyfriend ... you complement each other well! Happy birthday, Alice!!!!

  4. My 30th birthday party was much tamer... I had a glass of champagne while breastfeeding my 1-month-old. We won't mention that he is now nearly 15yo, because that would clearly age me.

Happy Birthday! And hooray that your sister was there to celebrate with you! :)

Sorry I missed your birthday but so glad you had such an awesome time!

Oh and 30 is WAY better than 20. Mainly because we can be even more lazy and complainy. :D
