wedding the first

i am the slowest person in the history of digital photos to get photo sets downloaded off my camera, uploaded onto flickr, arranged and edited and cropped the way i want them, then finally made public so i can show other people... so naturally i'm just now getting around to fixing up the photos from my friend liz's wedding two weekends ago. it was an amazing day - everything was incredibly elegant, liz looked more than stunning, and everyone had such a fun time.

the reception was awesome. the band brought the newlyweds up to dance with them:

the can-can broke out at one point:

and of course, my friend al and i are ALWAYS hot when we dance:

after the reception, the bride and groom strolled off - on foot, he in his tails and she in her gown, wedding shoes in hand - across pennsylvania ave, into the night (well, to their hotel. whatever). i, meanwhile, found myself headed to the house the groom's aunts and uncles had rented in southwest dc, after a few drinks at fado. as i was sitting in the cab, alone, on my way to party with my friend's new husband's extended family, it occurred to me that this was a sort of weird thing to do. but those folks know how to party, and it was definitely worth it, even if one of the uncles did inadvertently make a mixed drink with coriander instead of mint which he then forced everyone to drink while loudly insisting it was mint! MINT, i say, THIS IS MINT! (it was not mint.) (he was teased a lot for it once i was proved right.)

also the best man was at the house party, and he was cute. i am only human.

Glad you had such a great time. Also there should always be cute, single guys at weddings. It should be a rule.

  3. You are the best wedding guest ever. If only everyone embraced weddings with such exuberance... I look forward to returning the favor one day!

  4. I don't think there's anything weird about going to that party. That's what weddings are for! Everybody's besties by the end.
