atlanta and nyc, oh my!

hello hello! i have had a very busy few weekends, running around the east coast between nyc and atlanta, visiting many a wonderful friend and - super exciting - getting to meet a wonderful blogger as well. and her SUPER ADORABLE son :-) you guys, moo is so cute. i wanted to figure out a way to bring her and gray back to dc with me, possibly in my carryon. oh, and if you read moo, and have heard her lament how hugely pregnant she is? well, it's true she's very pregnant, but the adorable kind where it's all in her belly. basically the kind of pregnant i assume all other pregnant women are jealous of. CUTE.

moo has a bunch of pictures from our morning up on her blog, whereas i had the Ginormous Camera of Ridiculousness, so i only busted it out at the very end to get one quick picture of my new boyfriend, grayson:

seriously. how can you not want to zerbert that little face? moo and baa are both super sweet and so nice, and i had the best morning. uh, then i went back to my friends' house and took a nap, and i cannot even BELIEVE moo ran around the whole bouncy place all morning - at 8 months pregnant - and didn't need to pass out immediately. i am a lightweight.

i was staying with my lovely friend silvia and her awesome fiance, yoshi, while in atlanta. silvia and i met many moons ago when we both worked for an airline here in virginia, and i am doing my best to convince them to move back up here again :-) they were the most amazing hosts.. i feel like i need to step up my hostess game the next time i have a visitor..! we started the weekend with a trip to the sweetwater brewery, where they are VERY generous with the "tasting" portions. this was about 5 beers in - silvia and yoshi are in the middle, with their friend missy on the right, and two new friends we made right around beer #3.5 are on the left.

after sweetwater, we went to the vortex for dinner (tater tots + queso = DIVINE) and to meet up with another of our airline friends, rich... except apparently the sweetwater beers had gone into effect by this point, because i failed to take a single picture once we had met up with him. am lame.

the weekend prior was a trip to nyc to take advantage of my friend christina being in town from france.

i love new york in general - i grew up just 1 hour south in jersey, so it will always be "the city" to me, despite the 6.5 years in DC - and i now love that so many of my friends are there so that any time i visit, i get to see like a dozen awesome people. this trip was a brief one, but we did manage to round up a bunch of the highschool crew for dinner:

...and then met up with yet ANOTHER of my airline buddies for drinks afterwards. (one benefit of the airline getting bought out and all my friends scattering to other cities is that i have people to see now in SO MANY cities. the downside, obviously, is that my friends are scattered throughout so many cities instead of being available to hang out here where *i* live.)

so! now i'm back in dc, and i am STAYING IN TOWN this weekend, which i am looking forward to. my laundry pile is also looking forward to it.

You know what? You need to come to Minneapolis - YES. But um, maybe wait until the temperature gets above 60. So maybe sometime in July!

  4. I love Rockefeller Center except the day after Christmas, when I, the former NYer was an idiot and went there with my daughter. WTF was I thinking? I have no idea

  5. Awww! He's such an adorable kid. :)

I wish my friends lived close around here too. Instead, they are also pretty much scattered everywhere. But like you said, always a good excuse to go and visit different places and stay with friends!

Do you still work for the airlines? I can't imagine trying to fly to all these places without serious free miles!

  7. There was a time when I'd jump on a plane and go visit friends. Now, it's so much more complicated. Double the airfare plus figuring out what to do with the dog. All I can say is THANK YOU for living the life for me.
