back in the saddle. AGAIN.

so! hi! i'm single again.

the breakup was mostly-mutual, not at all antagonistic, and more "crap. this isn't going to work, is it. well that fucking sucks donkey ass, doesn't it?" than anything involving screaming / railing / what have you. it was more just... sad. because The Boy is a very good guy, we're just not very good people for each other in the long run.

and as one friend gleefully cackled, mid-consolation: "this means i get to hear your awful dating stories again!"

i have very sympathetic friends.

so, hey! maybe with all my newly free time i can finally get my europe pictures uploaded. as if my packed social calendar - and not my olympic-quality procrastination skillz - were the culprit there ;-P

  1. Thank God for could-be-worse breakups. Also, I noticed and enjoyed your use of the phrase "donkey ass" (although I'm not sure how you expect to woo the gentlemen with a mouth like that on you.)

  2. Sigh. Sucky, I'm sorry. But at least it wasn't a breakup of the screamy variety.

  3. Sorry for the breakup, even if it wasn't too hard. Can't wait to see pics!

  4. So sorry about the break up, but as you mentioned it wasn't of the screaming at the top of your lungs sort.

I think I've just repeated what everyone else is saying.

  9. Sorry about the breakup. I think it's very courageous to let someone good go like that!

  10. On the bright side, this means that we get to hear your awful dating stories again! Wait...I think someone might have already said that.

    Pictures? Get to work!

  11. Do you know how much I love this post? I'm always petrified to blog about breakups. No matter if it was mutual or who ended it... I always feel afraid of looking dumb (or of hurting the boy's feelings, if he reads my blog. Like this guy broke up with me in the summer and I just didn't want to complain about him because I knew it would hurt to read). UGH, BLOGGING.

Anyway this post is so respectful and so honest. I really look up to this post.

  14. I'm sorry your sad, but I'm happy for you that it wasn't antagonistic or anything. If only we could go prowling together...

  15. Uh. Breakups suck though. Even when they're not of the screaming kicking in the nuts and throwing his crap out of windows type.

  17. Awww, Alice. Sorry to hear that. Even if it wasn't a complicated break-up, it's still sad that something has ended. Let me know if you want to grab a drink sometime!

  18. That sucks! Breakups are always hard, no matter what.

  19. It could be worse. But it's probably for the best you figured this out now and not years from now. I say get a bottle of wine and a few Julia Roberts movies. Notting Hill always works for me.

  20. Breakups pretty much suck no matter if they're amicable or not. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but hey, one single girl to another--welcome back to the club. ;-)

  21. but ... but ... you have awesome hair!

am so confused now. awesome hair = breaking up? Maybe I'll keep my non-awesome hair, just in case.

  22. No hysterics is good, but still... break up = icky, sucky, NO FUN

And I'm with Moo. Maybe I'll just keep cutting my own hair.

  23. I really admire your ability to get back in the saddle (to borrow your phrase) after the last break up, as well as your attitude towards the next time. Seriously. Maybe one day I'll be like that, but for now, I'm just going to be in awe.

Glad to hear this breakup was mutualish and lacked screaming!
