birthday recap!

first of all: THANK YOU everyone for the birthday wishes! i had a FANTASTIC birthday last week. happy hour turned into happy evening, and happy evening = happy alice.

second of all: internets, you are very wise. and i trust your judgement. so much so, that even though i had already completely written off that first blue banana shirt, your comments persuaded me to reconsider. and i wore the shirt out for my birthday. trust in you: i has it!

and of course i wore the sweater too, because as we know i'm droolingly in love with it:

i made out FANTASTICALLY this year. as i was getting ready for the boy to come over, a package arrived from my parents, containing a new giants jersey (plaxico burress!). i have - and love! - a tiki barber jersey, but had been telling my dad that i was thinking i should get another jersey of someone who is, you know, an actual current player for the giants. i going to buy an osi umenyiora jersey at the beginning of the season... but he blew out his knee before i got around to ordering. so my dad got me plaxico :-) yay, dad!

and then. then! the boy did very, VERY well, and managed to finally initiate me into the 21st century: he got me my very own ipod. i was one of roughly six americans under the age of 30 who still didn't own an ipod of any sort, and now i have the unbelievably awesome ipod classic. in silver. SUPER HEART. i may even go running today, just because now i have music to listen to while i suffer!

and then my roommate val, who is awesome, got me another totally perfect present: framed pictures she had taken of my cats. HEE. they're so great - they're total glamour shots. am definitely a confirmed cat lady.

the evening was fantastic. i was all "dude, i'm 28 now. i'll have a few civilized drinks, as is appropriate these days." HA. i suggest not mixing champagne in amongst your lemondrop martinis if you're trying to stay civilized. just a little tip from me to you.

more pictures, as always, if you want 'em. and now, it's technically a day late, but go say happy birthday to hillary too!

  1. Gah - sorry for missing your birthday. I'm clearly too caught up in my own world! But, I did read through your previous blog fashion show and thought PICK AWESOME #1. Clearly, so did everyone else. And you looked great in it for celebrating! Yay for feeling the love on your birthday!

  2. If you run every day maybe you can finally lose enough weight that your knee will stop hurting.

(NOTE TO ALICE READERS: I am kidding, troll joke).

  13. My 17yo decided to ask for an ipod for Christmas, as he is one of those 6 people and NEEDED it as a status symbol. Go figure. He'll probably just put tunes on it from Guitar Hero and maybe some marching band favorites, because he's geeky like that. (Handsome, but geeky)

I *do* like that blue shirt on you. :)
    Sounds like you had fun.

  14. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet! iPod is a VERY nice gift! (I'm an electronics geek.)

Just a note here, don't run with your iPod because it has a hardrive which will quickly be ruined. It doesn't handle the shaking motion well at all. If you want to run with music, use an iPod shuffle.
