paintings of the pole: volume 4

these days, my pole classes seem to be more about developing fancypants strength moves that are pretty much only impressive to other pole students. actually, i'm pretty sure the person most impressed by them is ME, because i've never been a historically strong person. and it's kind of blowing my mind that i'm doing crazy-ass stuff like this now.

for example! i think this is called something benign like the "side mount," and when done by someone who does it well, it looks all easy-peasy, nice & smooth and effortless.

AND I CAN DO IT TOO. i mean, my version still involves a lot of grunting and desperately NOT-smooth jerking of body parts into place, BUT STILL.

so a fairly normal thing to do is invert, where you kick your legs up over your head and latch on to the pole with your ankles, like the first two pictures from last time. or my lamp post picture. this time though? we started by climbing up the pole a bit:then keeping our arms like that, straightening out into a hang, putting our hips in front of the pole instead of behind it:and then, from a dead hang, swinging your feet up into that same invert. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)and then! you can do any of the normal invert tricks, like my very first pole drawing ever, the hands free invert. which i can now even do without that curse-y thought bubble! one day maybe i'll get someone to take actual real photos of me so i won't have to keep drawing this crap.

  1. You are brilliant...I don't know how you get those little pole drawings so perfect but seriously, you are crazy talented! How many people are in your class? And how many times a week do you go? (Sorry if this is a skimmer question LOL I just don't remember when you first started how often you were taking the class!!!)

  3. Ditto Jess. That's the first thing I thought. (Aside from how awesome it is that you can do these moves in the first place.)

  5. I'm fairly certain (and by "fairly" I mean "extremely") that if I tried the climby/flippy/inverty thing, I would poop.
I'm very impressed is what I'm saying.

  6. Oh, my. Hillary's comment made me laugh so hard, because, yes, I think that would be a strong probability if I were to try something like that.

    I love your pictures!

  7. Hey, you are actually a really good at drawing!

I don't think I'd EVER be able to do any kind of pole dancing. If I even attempted that move, I'd fall on my head. No doubt.

  12. Love the drawings, don't ever stop. In fact, I think you should do more posts in comic book fashion. Think Scavenger hunt, OR even better, TMI Tuesday! I'm sure it's not time consuming or anything, you ridiculously talented thing you.

  17. This is one of those things that, having been a child gymnast, my mind looks at and thinks, "Yeah, easy, I can do that" and then I try and I can't even hold myself 3 inches off the ground on the damn bar. Good job, you.

  19. Ah, I miss pole dancing. My career was too brief to allow me to ever learn all the tricks, but it sure looks like fun. I wish I could take classes here, but there are none offered locally. Great workout, really gets you in touch with your feminine power, right?

Also no hustling for cash, which was the not fun part of it.

I will let you know, they have venues in NYC where you get paid just to dance on stage, no touching. Work on your transitions and you could do this, no joke.
