first world problems

doesn't it piss you off when people complain about something you'd kill to do, like how they have too many vacations coming up or something? ha! prepare to be pissed off!

(i would like to note that i am not actually UPSET about all the upcoming travel, just starting to get slightly anxious about making the rest of my life work at the same time.)

but! check out all the neat plans i have coming up:
  • this friday, i head to dewey beach for the weekend - referred to as "spring break for adults" - with three of my girlfriends. (ha, ladies - perhaps this weekend would be a good one to give you guys your pseudonyms?) it should be drunken and inappropriate. which obviously = awesome.
  • once i return from dewey, i'm immediately driving down to the outer banks for a week in a beach house with a different set of friends. this is the third year in a row i've joined this crew at the same OBX beach house, and it's always.. well.. drunken and inappropriate. woo!
  • after a quick sunday at home to try to wash some sand out of my clothes, i'm then being forced out to CA for work for a few days. this is the only one i'm disgruntled about, because i think it will prevent me from the NEXT trip possibility, which is...
  • saint maarten over labor day weekend. due to our years at the airline, my friends and i have a lot of contacts still in the industry, which means we have access to buddy passes. which are way-cheaper-than-a-real-ticket, standby seats on planes. TO ST MAARTEN.
  • then the weekend after THAT, i'm headed back home to NJ, because my dad scored tickets to the NY Giants' season opener against the Redskins. i am VERY EXCITED about this - it's the first time i'll see the giants win actually IN giants stadium. (and, um, yes. they're obviously going to win. sorry, skins fans.)
so, assuming i do all that? i will be at home for 7 days out of the next 24. and four of those days would be the week between st maarten and the giants game. that is A LOT of not-home-ness. it's killing me, but since st maarten is the only tentative plan there, it's the one i may have to bail on. four weekends in a row is a lot of weekends to be gone.

then! there is also the trip to eastern europe i'm in the middle of planning, which will take place in october. right now (and this changes roughly every 15 minutes) i'm thinking of a prague - cesky krumlov (thanks, artemisia!) - budapest - croatia itinerary. suggestions? ideas? tips? dire warnings? all are welcome!

  1. Yeah so I'm pretty small, I fit almost anywhere. Make some room in that luggage for me.

  3. Of all those trips, I'd be clinging to the St. Maarten one like my life depended on it.

    Have fun!

  4. I understand the frustration. Mine would be a lot less without the work thing getting in the way of my fun plans!

(Only my plans are nowhere near as exciting as yours.)

  8. I'm trying to beat away the encroaching envy, but I fear I am not strong enough...

What will your poor kitties do?
(If you can't join her, flog her with guilt.)

  10. Prague is the only one of those places I've been to, and it is absolutely worth visiting. I hear Croatia is fantastic too. And Torsten raves about the Ukraine, but apparently it's really expensive there.

  11. How about I let you borrow my 17 month old for a couple of weeks and you can see how much fun traveling is in my world?

Btw, still want to come up and visit... when in October is your European adventure? Hmmm, maybe it will just be easier to ask when in September/ October do you have a Saturday-Sunday free?

  12. Yeah, you're not exactly my favorite person in the whole wide world right now. Kidding. Sounds like you've got some fun in the future. Can't wait to see the pictures.

  17. I love Outer Banks, except for reasons that would take too long to explain, all of my friends and I call it Cooter Banks. So there's that. Have a great time on your vacations.

  18. And I thought my next two months were crazy!

Jacksonville next weekend, home for a few days, then off to Puerto Rico, then home and close on my townhouse, then Kristabella comes to town, then move into my townhouse, then 10 year high school reunion!

Then again, I am at home more, though still a lot going on. :)

  19. when and what part of OBX are you in? I'm going to be there next week. I don't even have you cell phone number, so email me!

  20. I've been to Dewey Beach and the OBX before, so I'm not that jealous. And I'm certainly not jealous about you going to New Jersey. :)

Saint Maarten? Okay, that stings a bit.

  22. Ugh. Don't wanna talk to you right now. Your wallet is too small for your fifties and your diamond shoes are too tight!

  23. Jeez I'm hating you at this moment. All these trips. Esp envious of the whole Eastern Europe thing. Only place I'll be going this year is Namibia ... should be fun right?
