dates, trips, and restaurants

oh lordy. i've been sucked back into the vortex of match.com.

apparently when you do searches on there, it brings up profiles ranked in order of how recently your potential matches have signed on, because once i didn't check in for a few weeks i totally stopped getting the winks and the emails and what-have-yous. then i logged on during a fit of boredom the other day, and suddenly i have a potential date on friday and several other men i'm conversing with.

(the potential date is with YET ANOTHER 25 year old, by the way. who has already joked that i'm "ancient." am glutton for punishment.)

so! i'll be sure to let you know how those go :-P

in the meantime, i have COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN to mention the OTHER trip currently planned: i'm going to blogher this year! finally! i can't wait! well, truthfully, i have virtually no interest in going to the panels, but i am SO EXCITED to meet more of you lovely folks. who all is going?? be my friend!

BlogHer

ALSO! i set up reservations at two ridiculous local restaurants today - cafe atlantico, by jose andres, and restaurant eve, by cathal armstrong, because my mom is an awesome and important restaurant reviewer and these two places are nominated for james beard awards, so she wants to try them out. which means *i* get to try them out, which means that i get to eat at some of the finest restaurants in the area two nights in a row later this month. (right after i get back from the caribbean. hee.)

and ultimate frisbee starts up again this week, which will either be super awesome or mean i can't walk on friday. or both. and THEN! my lovely friend silvia is going to be in town with her fiance on friday night, and it's another friend's bachelorette party on saturday.

so i guess what i'm saying is that it's a good thing i did manage to unfunk myself, because i have a pretty sweet few weeks coming up, and i have no reason to be sulky at all. and all it took was buying a vacation in the caribbean to realize it, heh.

  1. I am very excited for you! Things are looking up down here in Alabama as well. I think March just sort of sucked. The end especially, but not the very end.

    nevermind.

  3. No sulky is right! You have a ton of great things to look forward to!

But why is your blogher conference labeled 2006?

    I'll e-mail you about making a local get-together happen.

  4. That's awesome your mom is taking you to such nice restaurants! I hope you'll bring pictures back to this space, if you're allowed. =) You know I'm going to attend BlogHer. And like you, I signed up without really knowing what I was getting into, other than the opportunity to meet other bloggers! Chicago in the summer is most excellent!

  5. I have no interest in the panels either. I have an interest in shopping, eating, drinking and laughing. Or is there a panel for that?

    Can't wait to meet you!

Also, I'm not "going" to BlogHer per se (not registered or anything) but I'm just south of Chi and thought of coming up for a side meet-up with some folks. Maybe. :)

  15. So basically, those of us who are housebound, toddler-encumbered, NOT attending Blogher, and most certainly NOT going on other fabulous trips should hate you. Is that what you're saying?

Not that I would do that. I'm just checking.

  21. Aww I wanna go to Blogher too! Me too, me too!

Oh, Match.com. I remember signing up for it once during my six years of singledom (yeah you can see how well I did). Man, they picked the ugliest people for me - lol, sounds terrible but so true. I don't care if I am a perfect match with them, if they look like my brother, no way in HELL!

PS my 25 year old bf turns 26 next week. Finally, he's getting old!!

  25. Had a birthday dinner last year at Eve.

Top. Five. Meals. Of. My. Life.

Everything was absolutely perfect. From cocktails through dessert, there was nothing to complain about. I'm not going to say I could die and go to heaven after eating there, but it was nigh on that.
