quarter end shopping sprees

so this is my... let's see... ninth quarter end here at Current Workplace. i know what to expect by now - a very late night, beers at work, general hysteria (the funny kind, not the panic kind) setting in around 9pm. it's actually sort of fun, once you commit yourself to being here late-night. one of my coworkers even brought his wii in tonight to occupy us during our down time.

however, a new development THIS quarter end is the sudden separation of me and MANY OF MY DOLLARS to my new best friend, banana republic. i blame slynnro. her post today at blissfully domestic about impulse buys led me to check out the neiman marcus website, which scared the BEJESUS out of me (oh HOORAY, the dress is on sale for just $1875!!!) and i ran to see the sales at banana as consolation. and BOY HOWDY were there some sales.

and 15% off my order if i ordered before october 1. which... is in 30 minutes. so i ordered. a lot.

to be fair, i'm GETTING a lot. i mean, 3 tops, 1 dress, 1 sweater, and 1 jacket. all on clearance! plus 15% off! but.. uh.. still, i didn't exactly have a bajillion dollars to throw at banana this month. OH WELL. now i can look forward to the package!

i expect i'll need to return a few items, because stuff NEVER fits me the way i think it will, but here's what i'll be receiving in 7 to 9 days:

hopefully not all of it will need to be returned. thank you, quarter end insanity!

  1. I think I'd like to find a job where I can shop and Wii! Not that I do either, but if I had a job where I could, I would. I think.

Where's the wardrobe go if the closet is an office and the storage area is the band room?

I like the 4 button sweater/jacket... it's very Mary Tyler Moore. Unless that's not what you were going for. In which case, it's not.

  6. Shopping and I have a very serious love affair. However, I've had to put our relationship on hold because I'm currently lusting over a new phone.

    My bank account hates me.

  8. It's all a matter of setting expectations, I suppose. Everything appears cheaper after you visit a site with $500 dress shirts. Then I see a shirt at Banana and think "Wow, that's 90% off!"

  11. Cute! I heart! I hope it all looks exactly right. Even though then you won't get your money back.

  12. Oh my gosh. I love the tops and jackets. I should have not read this post. AH! I am trying to get away from instant gratification (in the form of buying what I want when I want it). Sigh. I do love BR.

  14. Bannana Republic used to sell totally different stuff. They had a store that looked a little like Hollister. Man that dates me. I've been looking for one of their old catalogs to show my kid what they used to be like.

First paragraph of the History and it also explains Seinfeld and Mr. Peterman.

  15. First, can I say that model looks alien-thin. She looks awful. Too thin. But the clothes they have draped over her skeleton? Super cute!

  17. I still have the flannel dress (herringbone flannel, classic look, so soft and comfortable) that I bought at BR 21 years ago... with the money my husband sent me to fix the truck (he was in GA, I was in WA). Luckily, he loved the dress!

But, um, it doesn't fit me anymore. So it hangs in my closet and teases me instead. *sigh*
