put on yer drinkin' caps

due to popular demand, the rules for landmines:-)

everyone starts with a can of beer and a shot glass. the first person fills their shot glass with beer, takes a quarter, and spins it on the table. you have to spin the quarter, take the shot, and pick up the quarter again - all with the same hand - before the quarter falls down. if you fail to do this for any reason (bad spin, quarter falls off table, etc) you have to start over with another shot of beer and a new spin, and keep it up until you get the spin-shot-pick up accomplished. then you pass the quarter to the person next to you, and they go.

MEANWHILE! each time you finish a beer, the can becomes eligible to be used as a "landmine." when someone else spins the quarter and starts drinking, you can slam the empty can down on top of the quarter, which has two effects: a) makes them redo their turn, and b) the can has to stay EXACTLY where it was placed during the landmine attack for the rest of the game.

so as you go on, more and more empty beer cans end up scattered on the table (exhibit a). there's strategy about where to landmine stuff - for example, directly in front of someone, where they like to spin their quarters, is a great place. because then when they spin, their quarter ends up bouncing off an empty can and falling down, and then HA HA HA they have to drink more.

technically, you can spin the quarter wherever you want on the table (e.g., doesn't have to be directy in front of you) - you just have to stay in your spot, can't walk around to the other side of the table or anything. alliances are frequently formed throughout the game, and one alliance member might spin right in a targeted player's personal space, knowing their partner has an empty to use as a landmine right in front of the target. hehehe.

that was a REALLY long explanation for a pretty simple game. go forth and drink :-)

  4. I'm totally playing this with Chris after work tonight. What? Is it weird to play a drinking game on a work night at home with just two people?

  5. Unfortunately, I'm brain dead from drinking too much beer and can't follow this. How ironic.

  9. I don't drink beer. I am usually able to find a substitute for Flippy Cup, but I'm not sure it'd work here. So everyone else will have to enjoy. It sounds like a fun game!
