oliver's back at the emergency clinic. his fever spiked really high again yesterday, so i brought him in and they immediately whisked him away to put him on a fluid IV, possibly of ice water if regular fluids didn't bring his temp down quickly enough. they thought it was probably just a stubborn virus, and that the stress of traveling to and from nj allowed the virus to flare again... but then they did bloodwork and found out his white blood cell count is "sky high," which means he has an infection of some sort. like perhaps in his abdomen, as a result of surgery. which he didn't even need. massive guilt, table for one. i'm waiting to hear back from them today on the results of an ultrasound of his belly to see if they can determine what's going on.
reunion update to come later.
Oh NO! Poor Oliver! Don't feel guilty. You had no way of knowing he didn't need the surgery until it was done. Better safe than sorry. You are a very good pet owner. Keep us posted on Oliver!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope he's okay!
ReplyDeleteNeat light fixture.
Poor Oliver! I hope all turns out ok! You have nothing to feel guilty about...dr's(vets) are the ones that should be ensuring that they do not do unnecessary surgeries prior to going in. You've been prompt and prudent about taking care of problems as they've arrived. No guilt allowed
ReplyDeleteThat's right. No guilt allowed. Poor little guy - hope he gets well soon and they figure out what's wrong with him!
ReplyDeletepoor Oliver (and poor YOU)
ReplyDeletehope everyone is feeling better soon

ReplyDeleteCrossing fingers and hoping poor Oliver will be ok!
ReplyDeletepoor Oliver. Poor kitty-mama!!
ReplyDeleteI like the candles; I'm a big fan of tealights. GLOBES!! [smacks head because she forgot to remember to take a photo of son's educational globe]
Great pics! Love the candles! I want an atrium fixture like the library's! That's just mighty cool.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about Oliver. Oh, my tummy is in knots over it, as I am sure yours is too. I will be thinking of him, and his mama.
ReplyDeleteHang in there!
i love that light globe! also kitty prayers to oliver the great.
ReplyDeleteEeek, sorry about the sick pet. Try not to feel too guilty though; really, how could you know?
ReplyDeleteI used to have a poster of the Earth, it would have been perfect for this week. Great job on the pics!
ReplyDeleteHope Oliver is doing okay!
Poor Oliver! I hope hes feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, I like the astronomy print and the light fixture.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear Oliver isn't feeling well again. I hope he kicks this virus soon!
I'm thinking good thoughts for Oliver! You didn't do anything wrong. If you panicked every time your kid showed some indication of injury or illness, you'd be in the hospital every week. My Mom got an ulcer from such needless worrying. You couldn't have known.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the candles. Well played!!
I should probably mention to those who don't know me, I consider pets "kids" and my Mom happens to have 10 four legged "kids". Yes, I said 10. She's crazy, I know. Anyway, my "kids" are constantly limping and running in to walls or throwing up weird things. I wish they could tell me sometimes what was going on.
ReplyDeleteAwwe! I hope your little buddy gets better soooon :(
ReplyDeletePoor kitty. The only thing sadder than a sick animal is a sick baby animal.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Oliver.
Looking forward to the reunion update. And to possibly recovering my ability to leave witty comments on your blog...
Love that you called him the dramacat.
ReplyDeleteHate that he's still sick.
Hope YOU are ok through all this!
Oh! Poor Oliver. I hope he makes a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteI think that last picture totally qualifies as earth. -And as I said in the next post, I hope he's all better soon.
