spring! nyc! both may not happen!

i feel pretty bad saying this, because i just read like 6 blogs in a row where it snowed yet again last night or over the weekend, but: holy shit, folks, it's NICE out in virginia today.

things! they're... blooming! i just went for a walk around our little pond at work, and it was SPRINGISH. magnolia trees have suddenly bloomed, the daffodils are cheerily bobbing in the (warm! springy!) breeze, and the trees have that pale green haze that means they're busily sprouting buds. i didn't wear a coat when i took the walk.

my manager and i were at work until about 2am last night due to the stupid quarter end, so we've decided to leave today at 4 and go drink somewhere, outside. before the weather realizes its mistake and goes back to cold, rainy, and sucky.

meanwhile, i'm trying to decide whether or not to cut work on friday and head up to nyc for the weekend. one of my really good girlfriends is very much into parkour, and is fantastically good at it, and is actually part of a team hired out around the country to do parkour demonstrations.. this time, for a big sneaker company doing a demo in times square all day friday (!!!!). check out this video for some clips of really, really cool parkour in action. seriously. watch it, it's pretty much insane. i have quite the parkour crush on the guy in that video, frankly.

ahem. so i'm trying to decide whether or not to schedule a last-minute trip to the city. although honestly, after watching that video again, i sort of feel like WHY AM I DEBATING THIS, i love nyc, i haven't visited my friends up there in ages, and getting to watch my other friend do parkour in times square is pretty much fantastically awesome. but then again, i sort of have a lot of things i was going to do this weekend. hrm. my life, it is so hard. WOE.

  4. I did not know what parkour was until I clicked your Wiki link and now I know. It is quite intriguing actually. My vote is to come to NYC this weekend - Sunday is going to be beautiful!

  5. Go to NYC! The stuff you were going to do will get done eventually.

Also, why is it beautiful in Virginia and not in DC? What kind of cruel world is this? Or have I just been cooped up in my cubicle for so long that I have forgotten what sunlight feels like and now interpret everything as gray?

  6. Crush??? I want to have his babies... oh, wait, I have too many already. Well, anyway, that is freaking AMAZING. Think he was on his high school's track team? He would've kicked ASS in broad jump.

  11. Ack! This weekend? Grrrrrr! I don't know if *I'll* be here! :P (otherwise I'd totally meet up with you at your friend's thing!)

That looks amazing by the way. I'd never heard of parkour before. Now I have a new sport I wish I knew how to do. Watching the guy in the video, I'm not sure my arms would be strong enough.

  13. Come with meeee! You know you want to see the show! Also, it's likely to rain Friday, so the show's probably going to be on Saturday. . . but I'll let you know about that as soon as I do.
