there's a reason i don't get up early

soooooooo hypothetically, say you got up early (!) and went to the gym before work (!!) to run a nice little 2.5 miles (!!!!), right? and hypothetically, your gym is on the way to work, so you brought your work clothes with you so you could shower at the gym and continue on your merry way. except, hypothetically, after you've showered and gotten dressed, you realize that the black shoes you were supposed to bring, to go with your black dress pants, are not in your gym bag. and going back home through tysons corner (should you, hypothetically, live on the other side of tysons from where your gym is) and retrieving the appropriate shoes would tack on a minimum of 40 additional minutes to your commute. your hypothetical options are now:

a) show up to work in black dress pants and brown boots that happen to be in your car
b) show up to work in black dress pants and bright white sneakers

for the record, i chose a). hypothetically, i mean.

  1. Hypothetically I would go with choice A.

But of course this is all hypothetical. ;)

  2. Hypothetically, you missed option c) Stop by that cute shoes store on the way to work and pick up a pair of appropriate (and sparkly new) black shoes! =)

  3. I would've gone with A as well.

A few weeks ago, my friend's husband went to work wearing one black shoe and one brown shoe. Hee!

  4. I like Nilsa's option c. But barring that, option a is hypothetically the way to go.

  5. Would totally go with the brown boots. Though if it was me? And there hypothetically was a cute little shoe boutique on the way to work that I knew hypothetically opened at 730am? I would totally, hypothetically of course, go buy a pair of new black shoesies, because hypothetically I NEED them. Not that the shoe issue has EVER happened to me before. It's all hypothetical.

  6. I would've chosen A as well.

  7. i would definitely have gone with option a, but probably option c, where i go buy new shoes! because i would be stimulating the economy :)

  8. A.

Here's why it's a good idea to leave a plain pair of black shoes at work. But for the record I don't care much about matching and would wear brown and black any 'ol day anyway. :)

BTW, my word verification word is "dring" which I think is the sound our brains make when we realize we've forgotten something at home.

  9. I would've gone with A as well. The other day I wore two different tennis shoes ALL DAY LONG. To the store, dropping off kids, EVERYWHERE. That night I sat down to watch TV and put my feet on the edge of the coffee table. THAT'S when I noticed.

  10. I would totally have worn the sneakers, since I would have a valid excuse for having comfy feet all the live long day.

P.S. NEVER, ever, take any sort of fashion advice from someone who thinks Birkenstocks go with everything.

HA HA, my word verification is "cycle", very fitting with my current condition.

  11. I, too, was going to suggest an option "c" of going out and buying a cute new pair of black shoes. There's still lunch, you know. You could still do it.

  12. I just want to applaud you for getting up early and going to the gym. I NEVER manage that one.

  13. clearly the universe is trying to tell you that getting up early to go to the gym before work is a Bad Plan

  14. a is definitely the better choice. Unless, of course, there is a shoe store on the way to work.

  15. Hypothetically?

I'd be wondering why I had brown boots in my car. I mean, I'm a guy.

  16. Oy! Bummer. But good for you for going to the gym, hypothetically.

  17. Well, option A is definitely better than going to work with no shoes on, which is where I thought we were headed!

  18. I would do option A, too...and I would be perfectly okay with that. :-)

  19. I would totally buy new shoes! What does it MEAN?

    Barring that, totally A.

  20. Hypothetically: C, I'd buy new shoes. Although I also have a drawer full of shoes at work, so I wouldn't have to worry about that. The joys of using public transportation!

  21. I was all about option C: perfect excuse to buy a new pair of shoes, but I see I'm not the first one with that idea.

In reality, though, I'd probably do exactly what you did (or, hypothetically would have done). No one sees me at work anyway, though.

  22. I was going to say C, but the enablers before me have it covered.

  24. That is too funny. I always do that when I go to the gym. I always forget either my socks, underwear, or t-shirt.

I now keep an extra set of skivvies in my trunk just in case.

That is a good excuse to buy new shoes.

  25. Ha! I would have gone with "a" also. Exercising before work takes a lot of effort. Props to you!

  26. Ha! My brain doesn't work at that hour. After working out, I would have been confused as to where I was supposed to go... maybe out for a beer? ;)

What time were you thinking of driving through Tysons Corner??
